9:55 PM
Just had the worst nap experience yet. It's not that I slept in or anything; rather, I couldn't fall asleep at all (as evidenced by the fact that I'm writing this BEFORE 10pm). Despite the fact that I didn't sleep any, I was able to relax some. It just wasn't quite what I wanted. More than anything, it's just annoying that I couldn't fall asleep. It'll get better, but it's a pain in the … right now. PSA time:
    Psychological States ( 1=low --> 5=high)
    Feeling of "Tiredness"
    3
    Hunger
    1
    Clarity of thoughts
    4
    Willingness to exercise
    2
    Willingness to write
    3
    Memory recall ability
    4
    Awareness of surroundings
    5
    Feelings of anxiety
    3
    Calmness
    2
    Frequency of odd thoughts
    1
    Errors of mind/typing
    1
    Schedule Adherence
    5
    Productivity
    3
Obviously, I did go to nap @ the right time, so I'm considering my "adherence to schedule" as perfect. Haha, my alarm just went off. Guess that means I'll go for a walk now (after updating my podcasts).

4:31 PM
Wow, today sorta just flew by (likely because I overslept so much). I don't know if I actually got to sleep in Nap6 (4pm-4:30), but I definitely drifted in and out of restful states. I ended up being "awakened" by a twitter text message on my phone about half-way through the nap, which was disappointing. I DID go back to nap after that, but I think it was a big factor of my not getting to sleep. PSA time:
    Psychological States ( 1=low --> 5=high)
    Feeling of "Tiredness"
    2
    Hunger
    1
    Clarity of thoughts
    4
    Willingness to exercise
    2
    Willingness to write
    3
    Memory recall ability
    4
    Awareness of surroundings
    4
    Feelings of anxiety
    1
    Calmness
    3
    Frequency of odd thoughts
    1
    Errors of mind/typing
    1
    Schedule Adherence
    5
    Productivity
    3
Standard scores. Nothing great, but nothing bad either. K, well I've gotta go buy an ink cartridge, and I have like forever (5hrs) before my last nap for the day.

3:07 PM
I didn't sleep through this nap, I just haven't updated as quickly as I could have (took a shower, had lunch, researched polyphase stuff). Ok, so this post is in reference to the 1:00pm-1:30nap. It went well. I ended up dozing off for at least a few minutes, because I barely remember seeing some kind of dream. At least that's the theory I'm running with. For those of you more experienced, don't worry, I have NO delusions of being anywhere near adapted. Having tried this once before, I know it will probably be ~1week before I see any noticeable signs of adaptation, and at least 2weeks before I begin being able to maintain everything at pre-poly levels. With that, I'll say that appetite is roughly the same as pre-poly (had 2 small salads & some bread for lunch). Also, I was able to keep up very easily with the news that I watched while eating. Granted, that's no great feat, but I would have been seriously worried if that had not been the case. So, without further ado, I shall present you with the PSA for this nap (Psych. State analysis).
    Psychological States ( 1=low --> 5=high)
    Feeling of "Tiredness"
    1
    Hunger
    2
    Clarity of thoughts
    4
    Willingness to exercise
    2
    Willingness to write
    3
    Memory recall ability
    4
    Awareness of surroundings
    3
    Feelings of anxiety
    2
    Calmness
    3
    Frequency of odd thoughts
    1
    Errors of mind/typing
    1
    Schedule Adherence
    4
    Productivity
    3
I have managed to get a couple of school-related things done, but I still recognize that I'm procrastinating. I've got some grammar quiz (stupid biz communication class) tomorrow, that I have yet to even look at. Regardless, I can probably ace it. It's just unnerving to see that, even with all this "extra time," I still procrastinate. That's human nature for you I suppose.
*Let me know if you would like me to write about some specific benchmarks or other topics relating to the sleep schedule. I feel like I'm just rehashing the same topics here, primarily because it's easier than brainstorming better topics, but also because I have no feedback.

Day2 (nap2-4) Utter Failure -kind of-

10:42 AM
Okay, so I went to sleep for my 3:30am-4am nap and… ended up sleeping until ~10:00. That means that I got roughly 6.5hrs of sleep that I wasn't supposed to. Effectively, that puts me back at square1 in terms of success. I think you can probably guess what the "adherence to schedule" section of the analysis is going to be now. Regardless of this issue, I have learned something, or at least reinforced it: I NEED multiple alarms for this to work! To that end, I downloaded Clocx, which is a handy desktop clock with customizable features and the ability to add LOTs of alarms for it to ring (you can even put in .mp3 files as alarms). With it, my iTouch, and my phone I shouldn't mess up again. If I do, I'll just try switching to an everyman+3 schedule or something like that. State Analysis:
    Psychological States ( 1=low --> 5=high)
    Feeling of "Tiredness"
    2
    Hunger
    1
    Clarity of thoughts
    3
    Willingness to exercise
    2
    Willingness to write
    3
    Memory recall ability
    4
    Awareness of surroundings
    3
    Feelings of anxiety
    1
    Calmness
    3
    Frequency of odd thoughts
    1
    Errors of mind/typing
    2
    Schedule Adherence
    1
    Productivity
    2
Pretty bad results, but it was kind of inevitable, given this huge error. Sorta sucks to think that I basically wasted day1. Oh well.

1:01 AM
So, I didn’t actually sleep during this nap; just kind of rested. My room-mate had friends over & I think for some reason that made it harder for me to fall asleep. Regardless, I've got another nap very soon (3:30am)! :)  and that'll be good. I'm considering going on a walk, but I also need to work on some of my class stuff… I think I'm going to go on a walk. It's kind of freezing in the apartment, and hopefully if I go out and get my heart rate up, I'll be warmer (actually I know that'll happen). Time for the obligatory Psych. State analysis first though:
    Psychological States ( 1=low --> 5=high)
    Feeling of "Tiredness"
    2
    Hunger
    2
    Clarity of thoughts
    4

    Awareness of surroundings
    3

    3
    Calmness
    2

    Errors of mind/typing
    2

Basically I just don't feel like I'm getting anything "done," but I did clean my room :)  And I made my "List of things to do." So, logically, I know that I am getting some things done. Walk time.
1:23am: Going on a semi-brisk walk was a really good idea. I'm definitely warmer now, and also feel more awake than beforehand. Walks are good :)
Side-note: One of my neighbors was outside on our shared porch reading. I wonder if she's just having a night where she can't sleep, or if she is just a night-owl. It'd be WAY too hopeful for me to think she might be polyphasic. If nothing else though, it gave me an idea for what to do if I'm feeling "cooped" in my room: go outside to read a book :)
